Otterly Lost Guide

Tips and frequently asked questions

These are the questions that come up in the Steam discussions and in every search for the game, answered with what is actually confirmed as of September 19, 2026.

Release and purchase

When exactly does it unlock? Steam lists September 23, 2026 at 17:00 UTC — 01:00 on September 24 in Beijing, 10:00 PT, 19:00 CEST.

How much does it cost? No price has been published. The store page has no price field yet, so any figure you see quoted is a guess.

Is there a pre-order or a bonus? No. Wishlisting is the only option, and there are no codes, keys or pre-order extras for this game.

Which platforms? PC via Steam only, with additional platforms described as TBA in the official press kit.

Playing it

Is there multiplayer or co-op? No. The store page lists single-player, and the co-op request on the Steam forum has no confirmation behind it.

Does it work on Steam Deck? Players in the Steam discussions report it running well on Deck, and the game has full controller support. Whether it ships with a verified badge is still unknown.

The camera made me queasy — what can I change? Motion sickness was reported against the first demo, and the studio responded by lowering default camera sensitivity, adding extra sensitivity options, and adjusting shadows and camera behaviour. Check the settings menu before deciding the game is not for you; the store page also lists camera comfort, colour alternatives, custom volume controls and save-anytime as supported features.

Can I rebind keys? The controls menu supports remapping, plus camera and zoom sensitivity.

Are there achievements? None are listed on the store page at the time of writing.

Languages? English interface and subtitles only, so there is no localised release at launch.

Content and length

How long is the game? Press hands-on coverage quotes roughly 4–5 hours for the main quest line and 6–8 hours including side quests. That is the developers' own estimate, not a measured playthrough.

Do I need to play the demo first? No, and you cannot — it was delisted from Steam on August 26, 2026.

Do demo saves carry over? No. Soulworks confirmed demo saves are incompatible with the full game, and returning players start fresh with a new prologue.

Is there combat, hunger or a day/night cycle? None of the three. The challenge is navigation, ingredients and soft puzzles.

Is it just a short game about a cute animal? The systems are shallow by design — tool upgrades, ability upgrades, cosmetics and quest chains — and the ambition is the world itself rather than difficulty.
